Our top five recommendations Playa Blanca Lanzarote

1. Papagayo beaches are arguably the best on the island and definitely worth taking the time to find. The six beaches and coves just a five minute drive from Natural Retreats Playa Blanca are a must - one for almost every day of the week! Reached via a dirt track and located in the National Park, the drive there is almost as exciting as the beaches themselves! Each beach is unique with different features but all share two things in common – sheer beauty and calm seas with gentle shelves - great for families!
2. Scuba Diving. Lanzarote boasts over 500 species of fish, many wrecks, underwater volcanic caves, good visibility (10 - 30 meters) and water temperatures ranging from 18 to 23 degrees making scuba diving a must do experience. You can choose from a 'Try-Dive' to a full course so there really is something for everyone, making a truly memorable holiday.
3. Playa Blanca market – held every Wednesday up at the marina – the perfect place to pick up your souvenirs, take a stroll around the marina and sit and have a coffee at one of the many cafes.
4. Hire a car and go exploring – Playa Blanca has so much to see and I found that to hire a car and explore way the best way to do it. Whether you choose to do the South tour which takes in the Timanfaya National Park with its volcanoes and extensive lava fields, along with the beautiful village of Yaiza or the North Tour which includes the most spectacular views on the Island from Mirador del Rio, as well as the attractions built by Cesar Manrique the islands most influential artist, you will soon see how much more the island has to offer.
5. Food! Sebastyan's – a great Greek restaurant serving authentic food. Worth pre-booking a table to guarantee a sea view – my personal favourite! If you want to try some local cuisine try Los Hervideros Restaurant. Rather than being on the main boardwalk of Playa Blanca this restaurant is hidden away a few streets back. Not your typical tourist restaurant but great local Spanish food, the Paella and of course the Sangria are firm favourites.
