With surfing beaches, adventure centres, steam railways and aquariums there is plenty to keep everyone entertained in Fistral Beach. In the first week of August every year, more than 200 international surfers gather for the Relentless Boardmasters to compete for £60,000 prize money - a shining example of the diversity Newquay offers.
Local Attractions
There are many local activities within easy reach of Newquay, including Blue Reef Aquarium, Lusty Glaze Adventure Centre and Lappa Valley for children but it is also worth considering the many other opportunities in Cornwall as a whole such as the Lost gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project. For anything from fishing trips to horse riding, mountain biking to sea kayaking and walking to rock climbing, Cornwall really does have it all.
Surfing
Fistral Beach is the best surf beach in the UK and is recognised on the world circuit by pro surfers. Consequently the area is full of surf schools, so whether you are a beginner, need a refresher or want to push yourself further there is something here for everyone. For surfing experts, there are numerous beaches to challenge you further and provide an exhilarating experience. Natural Retreats have developed close links with recommended surf schools so please ask for our guidance.
Local beaches
From Fistral Beach, Newquay's championship surfing beach, to the sheltered Crantock Beach, the Great Western Beach, Towan beach in Newquay and the well known Watergate Bay with its large range of activities, there's a beach to suit every taste.
